Dancing Through Christmas | Blogmas Day 22
It's Blogmas day 22!
Sparks fly when single father Michael (Colin Lawrence) begins to fall for his daughter's dance teacher Olivia (AnnaLynne McCord).
I mainly picked this one because I'm familiar with the main actress, but the premise was quite sweet so I was looking forward to it.
This one was fine, not great but not bad either.
The characters were instantly likeable, and the chemistry between them was great from their very first meeting.
But it took a bit too long for the story to start because the pacing was weird - the characters spent too long on their individual storylines and then no time apart at all - nothing was gradual.
There was almost no tension because the characters obviously liked each other and repeatedly vocalised this very early on. It made it hard to know what the point of the story actually was, because there was no 'will they, won't they' that these movies usually have.
Considering that dancing is an important part of the film, the characters don't actually dance until an hour in which felt like a shame. It would have been really nice to see more dancing.
After a while I didn't really care about either the characters or the story. This was mostly because while the story itself was a bit bland, the characters actions and dialogue could stay completely the same in an entirely different story.
Overall this was nice but forgettable, and not very Christmassy at all. Not one I'd really recommend.
Title - 3/10 (I much prefer the alternate title 'Dancing through the Snow')
Originality - 3/10
Christmas spirit - 2/10
Christmas music - 2/10
It's 3 days until Christmas!
Come back tomorrow for Blogmas day 23!
