Being an Introvert

Be who you want to be

Since I began secondary school, I have been labelled as the 'quiet girl', and to be honest, I've always hated it. It seems as if being called quiet is an insult, that being loud is the only way to be popular. But popularity has never mattered to me, I've always been someone who understands the importance of being different, and the fact that not everyone can feel the same things at the same time. I'm going to give some tips about being an introvert, but this isn't about 'how to be an introvert', this is about 'how to deal with being labelled as different'.

-Ignore the haters

This is something that people say all the time, but it's true. Don't let anyone stop you from being who you are. Smile, laugh, have fun, but don't stop being you. Haters will try to break you down and everyone has them, but just remember that yours are not personal, they're trying to break you, but ignoring them gets them out of your head.

-Don't change

To you, being an introvert (Or being anything different) may feel like the worst thing in the world. However, there is a reason that you were born this way. Some of the most famous people in the world are introverts or have things that are different. This makes them loved by the people around them, and this will make you loved too.

-Be with people who love you for you
Surround yourself with the people that love you. People have a way of masquerading themselves to pretend to be someone who wants the best for you, when really, all they want to do is to drag you down. You need to be able to tell the difference between those two types of people. We haven't got forever, so make sure you spend your time with the people that are going to bring out the best in you.

-Take risks
It is ok, once in a while, to do something that will slightly push you out of your comfort zone, whatever that may be. But don't do things because you are pushed to do them, only do things that you choose to do. If you let people push you into things, you'll never be able to tell where your limits are. And you need to have limits, you need to know where you stand.

-Lastly, Have Fun!
Just because your an introvert doesn't mean that you have to curl up in a ball and stay quiet. Spend time with your friends and have fun. Keep smiling, because it is said that a smile can make everything better. Having fun doesn't necessarily mean being uncomfortable, just remember to stay comfortable and laugh. Life is to short to wish you were someone else.

I don't really know where that came from, it's just something that I've been meaning to say. I am an introvert and I know how hard it is to be told that you are different, but I also know that surrounding yourself with good people and having fun are the best ways to make you feel good about yourself. You only get one life, so live it to the fullest!
