The Princess Switch: Switched Again | Blogmas Day 7

 Hey Guys x

It's Blogmas day 7!

I reviewed the first 'Princess Switch' movie last year during Blogmas, so of course I had to review this one too!

Duchess Margaret Delacourt (Vanessa Hudgens) is preparing for her Christmas Day Coronation. When Princess Stacey De Novo (Vanessa Hudgens) comes to visit, with a special guest in tow, can Margaret repair her broken relationship before her Coronation?

Of course I liked this movie. If you liked the first one, there's no real reason not to like this one.

It's nice that the film picks up in a place that feels familiar. You know these characters, and can jump right back into the story.

The movie doesn't take itself too seriously. It knows exactly what it is, and exactly what its viewers want to see. So many Christmas movies should follow this rule.

The characters that we already know are warm and familiar. But I also have to give a shoutout to Ricky Norwood, who plays Reggie. I've been a fan of his since he was in EastEnders 10 years ago!

The premise is unrealistic (especially once certain characters are introduced) but in a way, that makes it even better! It feels like there's no way a story with these characters could ever be that realistic.

I won't give away anything about the character Fiona (though I'm sure she's in the trailer), but her parts are some of the worst of the film. While her basic character was necessary, she felt like a bad parody that just didn't work. At times, it felt like she was written to make fun of the film.

Something I really liked this time around was the slightly darker direction that the plot went in, and the fact that the villain was actually really interesting. I think the actual plot was a bit better than that of the first film.

It's a very festive movie, even if Christmas isn't the main theme. It also had a really cute ending that makes you excited for a possible third movie!

Overall, if you liked the first, you'll like the second. If you haven't seen the first, go watch it!
