Hey Guys x

I saw this last year, but decided to wait until the new year to put it up because I was reviewing a lot of other movies at the time for Blogmas, but either way, better late than never!

Many years before, Apollo Creed was killed in a boxing match against Ivan Drago, an event that has affected Adonis Johnson/Creed (Michael B Jordan) since his birth. So when he's challenged to a fight with Ivan Drago's son Viktor (Florian Munteanu), it feels like more than just a fight. And the prospect of going toe to toe with a Drago becomes an obsession for Donnie. But this time around, Donnie has a lot more to fight for. And this fighting can't be done in a ring.

I really enjoyed this film, almost as much as I enjoyed the first one.

The film begins on an epic high for Adonis, emphasising the fact that, the higher you are, the further you have to fall. In addition, the stakes are so high from the very beginning, that you as the audience are thrust right into the action.

This is also emphasised in the camera placement. For all of the fights, the camera is right in the middle of the ring. This makes the audience feel like they are right in the middle of the fight, and it's a thrilling experience to feel like this is something that you're involved in.

Throughout the film, you're shown the contrast between the two boxers lives. Yes, they're fighting from opposite sides, but they've both lost a lot, and they've both sacrificed a lot of their lives for their profession. Even though one is supposed to be the enemy and the other is the hero, you get to know both of them, and you understand both of their motivations.

I have to say though, my absolute favourite moments were the moments of purity between Donnie and Bianca. The chemistry was so epic, and they were the moments that kept the film grounded, and reminded us what Donnie was fighting for.

There were so many unexpected moments that were extremely emotionally moving. The key to a film like this is to have the audience emotionally invested in these characters, and this film does that perfectly.

And lastly, the last walkout is the moment that I've been waiting for throughout these two movies. You see the whole of Donnie's support system, and you feel like you're also a part of that system. It's truly kind of magical to get to this place and know how much the fight means.

Overall, this film is as good as the first one, it's the match that any fan of the original Rocky movies have been waiting for, and it's honestly worth the wait. If you liked the first, definitely see this one!

7/10
