Get Out | 100 Movies Bucket List

This was one of the re-watches that I was most looking forward to, and from what I can remember, one of the only movies on this bucket list that I actually got to see in the cinema.

I love this movie, along with most of the population.

It's so much easier to write about something you've never seen before, than to write about something that you already love!

The very start of the movie sets a tone that carries all the way through. We're scared, we're unsettled and there's so much nerves and anticipation that you're glued to the screen for the entire runtime.

The pacing is so great, something is happening every minute and it moves so quickly that by the time it's over it feels like it just started, in the best possible way.

It's so interesting to see how many careers were made or bolstered as a result of this film. It seems that all of the actors involved got huge boosts from this movie and most have gone on to do really interesting things, possibly as a result of their roles here.

And the actors are all so great. There are some incredible performances here, some of which definitely deserved more recognition at the time. Daniel Kaluuya was the undisputed stand-out but the performances around him are also brilliant.

This film won the original screenplay Oscar the year it was nominated, and it's really easy to see why. The writing is insanely good, to the point where everything around it just elevates what was already on the page.

One of the reasons the screenplay is so good is because the entire idea behind the film is brilliant. At no point can you guess the truth behind what's happening because the details are so intricate. And then when you watch it again, you notice so many different clues and easter eggs that you couldn't have caught the first time. Some of the small things that you pick up on re-watches just affirm how brilliant the whole idea is, and why the writing has to be as strong as it is for this to work.

And on top of all of that, it's actually scary. Yes, the idea itself is horrifying, but as you're watching the movie, you're actually scared. Scared for the characters, but also scared when you imagine yourself in this situation.

It's great that you can get so invested in it, because the ending only works if you truly feel connected to the story and characters. It's an insanely huge sense of euphoria when you see the ending sequences play out, and ultimately the reason that the film is so well liked by the general population is because it has an ending that makes you want to watch the whole thing again.

So overall, this is an amazing film, certainly worthy of being on many classic bucket lists, and I loved getting to re-watch it this time around!
