Deliver By Christmas | Blogmas Day 10

It's Blogmas Day 10!

When Molly (Alvina August) and Josh (Eion Bailey) keep running into each other while completing Christmas activities, they start to feel a spark. But when Molly becomes smitten with a mysterious customer of her bakery, she has to make a choice.

This was a fun but extremely random pick. I didn't really know the premise beyond the main character being a baker so it was interesting to get to explore it.

I liked this one, which was great because the plot was a surprise, but it definitely had its flaws.

I loved the meet-cute! The characters had instant chemistry and I was rooting for them from their first scene together.

But with this, one of the downfalls of the film is that they don't spend a lot of time together. In a way that makes things fun because you're anticipating their next meeting, but they don't get a chance to build a relationship the way they need to to make the audience feel like they'd work in the real world.

I wanted to see more of them together!

It's always fun to have a film based on baking, but this one didn't have as many sweet treats as I would have liked. They spoke a lot about the baking the character does, but we don't get to see that much of it.

It took too long for anything meaningful to happen. Between the characters' sparse meetings, the mysterious customer and the baking, not much happens. The film is largely made up of conversations designed to help us get to know the characters, but without a lot of substance.

Like many Christmas romances, this film uses the misunderstanding trope, and while I like it more in some films than others, it really doesn't work here because it's used more than once in a short timespan. It feels lazy.

The ending was way too short and abrupt - by the time the characters finally got together we had seen them on screen for about 5 minutes of this 90-minute movie. Which was a shame because the actors actually did have good chemistry, and it was completely wasted.

Overall this one had a unique-ish premise, and a couple of great characters, but other than that there wasn't much else going for it. It was definitely more Christmassy than a lot of the ones that came before it though, so it gets points for that!
