Final Destination: Bloodlines | Film Review

After experiencing the same recurring nightmare night after night, college student Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) goes back home to break the cycle of death that is plaguing her family.

This is looking to be an amazing year for film, and this film was one of my most highly anticipated watches. I love the Final Destination series, and even rewatch the less good movies over and over again because I can't get enough of the concept, so when I heard that a sixth movie was in development, I was seated!

I absolutely loved this film.

For a start, this was one of the best beginning disasters they've ever done. Not only is it undoubtedly terrifying, but as you watch, you really feel like you're there with the characters.

The thing with sequels after a long period of time is that you run the risk of either doing the same thing that's always been done, or you take too many leaps and create something that's so far from the original it doesn't even seem like the same series.

But this was the perfect mix of great things from the first 5 movies, and also a unique interesting storyline that keeps things fresh while also letting us know that this fits in the franchise really well.

The deaths in Final Destination movies are usually quite creative and unique, and that is definitely the case here. In fact there are a couple here that are right near the top of the best FD death scenes.

And speaking of the deaths, the level of gore was also really well done. It straddled the line of making things fun without going all the way into Saw territory (which I also love, don't get me wrong).

I think this was also one of the funniest FD movies. While all the movies have had some elements of comedy horror to some extent, this is probably the first that leans into that through the dialogue, and that made it a really fun watch.

All of the actors involved did a great job, and definitely cemented their characters as some of the best of the franchise.

Overall, as someone who had been wishing for another FD movie since the last one came out 14 years ago, watching this film was such a joy. I loved it, it was a perfect cinema movie, and I can't wait to see it again!
