3 Month Favourites | January - March 2025
So we're into April, and it feels like ages since my 2024 Favourites post! Thankfully I've collected some great things to write about.
Favourite Movie (1): Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
I reviewed this film HERE and wrote about how much I absolutely loved it. I haven't had a chance to watch it again yet but I can't wait - I really think this was the best of the 4!
Favourite Movie (2): The Wild Robot
I haven't reviewed this film, but I ended up watching it because it was nominated for an Oscar. I didn't expect to feel anything negative or positive about it, and I ended up loving it so much! It was such a beautiful, emotional, incredible film that I'd definitely recommend to as many people as possible.
Favourite Film (3): Companion
I have a review of this going up soon, so I won't say too much here, but I really loved this film and I can't wait to watch it again!
Favourite TV Show (1): Genius: MLK/X
This is the only new TV show I've watched so far this year, and it's a great one! I started watching this after seeing the 'Mufasa' movie and becoming completely obsessed with Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Aaron Pierre, so I watched as much as possible that starred them individually, before realising that they had actually starred in something else together. I knew a bit about both of these historically iconic figures, but I didn't know nearly as much information as this show gave us, so for that reason alone I'd definitely recommend it, but all of the performances were amazing, so that's another reason to give it a watch!
Favourite TV Show (2): The Fosters
I watched this show for the first time a few years ago and really loved it, so I decided to start watching it again this year and if it's possible, I'm loving it even more than I did the first time around! Watch this show if you haven't!
Favourite TV Show (3): Girlfriends
And another show that I'm loving re-watching! I'm on my third rewatch and this show has become one of my sitcom staples that I can't ever imagine not watching over and over again.
Favourite Song (1): The High Note Soundtrack
Favourite Song (2): Love the Hell Out of You
While I didn't love 'It Ends with Us', I loved this song from the second I heard it in the film's credits and have been listening to it non-stop ever since. I have no idea why it didn't make my 2024 Favourites list, so I had to add it in here.Favourite Actor (1): Kelvin Harrison Jr.
You could probably guess where this was going (and who my next favourite is), but yes, both of these guys have taken up the majority of my March, so they're both being listed here. I had actually seen more of Kelvin's movies than I thought when I first looked up his filmography. My favourites of his movies that I've seen so far are 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' (one of my favourite films of all time), 'The High Note', 'Chevalier' and 'Waves' but he's been in so many amazing movies!Favourite Actor (2): Aaron Pierre
I first heard about Aaron Pierre years ago while the show Krypton was airing (I actually wrote about the show in my 2018 September Favourites!), and while it's been too long since I saw the show to single out his performance, I remember loving everything about it, so it's really nice to see his star rising so many years later. I've since seen every movie he's been in and have become a huge fan!
Favourite Book (1): Clown in a Cornfield 2
I reviewed this book HERE, and rated it a 5/5, as I should have rated the first book. I've got the third on my list but I think I can safely say that even if I hate the third book, the first two are one of my favourite book series of all time, and not only am I excited for the third (and recently announced fourth) book, I'm also really excited to see the film adaptation coming out in a few months!Favourite Book (2): My Lovely Wife
I'm reviewing this book at some point so I won't say too much about it here, but the longer I sit with it, the more I love it. It's definitely one to pick up if you're in the mood for a thriller!
And those are my first favourites of the year!
