My August Playlist!

I was going to do a July playlist, until I realised that I spent July listening to the same songs in my June Playlist, so I didn't think there was a point!

I spent all of yesterday adding different songs to my IPod, basically creating my playlist for August, so I thought that I'd show you guys what I picked!

Chandelier - Sia


I am loving this song at the moment! I think Sia is a really interesting artist (Who I'd like to know more about!) and this song is amazing! Her voice is great and the video is so... simple, yet really entertaining. I can never get tired of listening to this song.



Kiss Me Quick - Nathan Sykes


I talked about this song in my July favourites, I probably spoke about it before then, and I'll probably speak about again because I love it so much! It's Nathan Sykes' debut solo single and, as far as debuts go, it's amazing! I really can't wait to hear more of his music in the future!


Somewhere Only We Know - Lily Allen


This is such a beautiful song! I hadn't heard it for years when I saw it on YouTube the other day. Listening to it brought back a lot of childhood memories and the video is so lovely and beautiful! Listen to/watch this now if you haven't!


Hurt - Christina Aguilera


I heard this song by chance when I was flicking through the music channels one day last week and immediately fell in love with it! I've not always been the biggest fan of Christina Aguilera, but this song really showcases her amazing vocals! And, even if it didn't, it's a beautiful song!


She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5


I have always loved this song! I don't know exactly when it came out, but I've been listening to it for ages! So when I saw it on YouTube, I knew that I needed to add it to this playlist because I'm going to be listening to it on repeat for ages!


Black Magic - Little Mix


I heard this song once and was completely hooked! Although I'm not a big fan of girl bands, Little Mix have released some amazing songs and this is no exception! I love the concept of the video (although it faced a bit of controversy) and think that the song is really catchy.


Flashlight - Jessie J


I was a bit late to hear this song because I've been staying away from the 'Pitch Perfect' stuff, but when I heard it, I fell in love with it! The chorus in particular is amazing and Jessie J's voice sounds amazing on this song, and makes me want to listen to her entire album!


Marvin Gaye - Charlie Puth ft Meghan Trainor


When I first heard this song, I had no idea what it was or who sang it. I actually had the use the music recognition app 'Shazam' to find it. And when I found it, I replayed and replayed and replayed it, and I'm still not bored of listening to it!



Because You Loved Me - Celine Dion


I heard this song on the radio one night and it brought back so many memories! I also saw that they sang it on glee and loved their version, but nothing beats the original by Celine Dion, who's voice is amazing in every single way!


I Will Be - Leona Lewis


I know that this song was originally sung by Avril Lavigne, but I have always preferred Leona's version. In any case, I think the song is so beautiful and amazing that I don't care who's singing it! The lyrics are just... perfect!


So, those are most of the songs that I'm going to be listening to throughout August!

    Nice post!
    I love all of these songs!

    Christina Aguilera's "Hurt" brings back so many memories :D Me and my friends used to always try to hit those high notes but none of us ever could. She has such a wide vocal range!

    And did you know Sia actually wrote Jessie J's "Flashlight" together with Sam Smith? (Also Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts" ans countless other hits) I adore Sia she's an amazing artist!

    She will be loved! Never ever gets old :D I can't help but always sing along to it when it comes on <3 Did you know that that is Adam Levine's favorite song to sing :) I don't think Maroon 5 has ever disappointed x

    Adore your taste in music!!! Literally listening to so many of these songs, and this reminded me to go back and listen to some old school Christina Aguilera and Celine Dion :)

When ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse, he soon finds that his past is quickly catching up to him. I've never seen the original Road House, and when I put this one on I wasn't really planning to review it, but I found myself really getting into it. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Both the characters and the story were a lot more engaging and compelling than I thought they would be. The story sucked me in right from the beginning and I was interested the whole way through. The cast is great, but Jake Gyllenhaal completely carries the film and plays the character of Dalton really well. Again, I can't compare his performance to the original, but I really like the character. The fight scenes, which are pretty much what the film is about, are done really well. Wonka | Film Review

Young Willy Wonka (Timothée Chalamet) tries to follow his dreams to become a respected chocolatier, despite opposition at every turn . This film was never particularly high on my 'to-watch' list, but it was always on my radar, so I'm glad I've finally seen it. I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would, but I still definitely had problems with it! For a start, while I love the fact that it was a musical, I didn't actually like any of the actual songs. None of them really stood out (except the one that's already known) and having only seen the film yesterday, I can't remember any of them. In fact, while the songs didn't hurt the film, I also don't feel like they were completely necessary. I would have liked the film the same amount if it hadn't been a musical. Wonka is a really charming character, and Chalamet plays him really well. In fact, the entire cast is great - definitely the best thing about the film by a mile. The relationship b

Scarface (1983) | 100 Movies Bucket List

Next up for the Bucket List was another first-time watch! I'd seen the original 1932 film years ago and really liked it, but I never got around to watching this (undoubtedly more popular) version, so I'm glad it was on the list. I really really liked this movie. I'm not sure if I like it more than, or the same as the original, but I definitely had a great time with it. One thing about finally seeing all these classic movies is seeing how much impact they've had on pop culture, and this film is definitely no exception. It's so quotable, there are so many iconic images, and it's one that everyone should watch if they haven't seen it before. The most talked-about aspect of this film is probably the violence, and that's so interesting to see. Not only the way it's spoken about, but also the difference between violence in older films like this and newer releases. My Problem With '8 Simple Rules'

Hey Guys x Today's post might come out as more of a rant, which I'm OK with because I haven't ranted about something in a while! Last year, I started watching the show '8 Simple Rules' when it started playing on Comedy Central. It originally came on between 2002 and 2005 but I didn't watch it when it was first on. Anyway, I really got into it. There were only three seasons, so it was over before I wanted it to be. And I loved this show, and I still love it. Comedy Central doesn't play it anymore but if it did I would dive right back into it because I love a good sitcom. However, I have a major gripe with a plotline of the show, that got more prominent in season 2/3. Let me just explain the characters a bit, so you know who I'm taking about in case you never watched it. The Matrix | 100 Movies Bucket List

  Next up for the Bucket List was a first-time watch. This is one that I had obviously heard of but knew next to nothing about. I found that it took a long time for me to connect with the story, and even then, while the film was interesting to watch, I never felt particularly invested in it. There were a lot of recognisable, iconic moments that I appreciated, and I get how much of an impact it had on sci-fi (and probably movies in general), but I don't know if it was for me. I somewhat enjoyed it, I understood everything that happened, but never felt connected, and didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. It could just be that I need to re-watch it, and I probably will, but for a first watch, I didn't take to it as much as I wanted to. But that being said, I'm glad I finally watched it!
