Hey Guys x

I remember David Tennant talking about this film on a UK morning talk-show over a year ago and I thought that it had a really interesting, unique plot. I have no idea if it had a cinema release or not, but when it came out on the Sky Premiere channel, I had to watch it.

Olivia (Lucy Punch) and Alex (Faye Marsay) are a couple - but while Olivia is ready to start a family, Alex would be more than happy to avoid the conversation for as long as possible. So when Olivia decides to begin the process anyway, in her anger, Alex sleeps with their neighbour John (David Tennant). Suddenly, both women find themselves pregnant, and their awkward 'threesome' becomes increasingly complicated.

My thoughts about the film changed pretty drastically from the beginning to the end.

From the start, there are frustratingly clear communication issues between the couple. You don't have to know anything about them to know that if they spoke to each other more, they would not have been in their predicament in the first place.

As well as this, the couple seem really mis-matched. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, after all, opposites attract. But for some reason, at the beginning of the movie, these two women are not believable as a couple, and you can't imagine how they even managed get together.

However, everything changes once David Tennant's character enters the film. John's presence changes the girls' relationship dynamic and makes them both much more realistic and enjoyable to watch.

The dialogue starts off as a bit unrealistic and cheesy, but if gets so much funnier once the pregnancies progress. Once you truly get to know these girls, you become so invested in their story that it's hard to not have your own opinions on every aspect of their relationship. Particularly because a lot of the conflict between them comes from the communication issues that they've had since the beginning.

Overall, this is a really lovely movie. It seems like just a comedy, but there are also a lot of highly dramatic moments - definitely worth watching!

6.5/10
