Hey Guys x

It's another review for you today! Sorry it took me so long to do this one, I saw this ages ago!

From my Spider-Man: Homecoming review, you'll know that I'm a big fan of comic book movies. I started by being a fan of Marvel exclusively, but I've now seen all the films in the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) so far, leading up to Justice League, and I can say that I'm also a huge DC fan.

Particularly of Wonder Woman.

Diana Prince was raised on the Island of Themyscira, with a race of Amazonian warrior women created by Zeus. In 1918, Diana rescues Steve Trevor, when his place crashes on their island. From him, she hears about the war that people in the real world were fighting. Believing that it is the work of Ares, the Greek God of War, she goes with Steve to London, so that she can put an end to Ares once and for all. However, is there more to mankind than meets the eye? And if there is, does Diana belong in this war?

I loved this film. I have no previous experience of Wonder Woman, so I definitely didn't know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised.

The story itself was great, and something that I could easily follow. There are some things about the story, particularly towards the end, that I wouldn't have done in the same way (such as, kind of spoiler alert, the character that Ares turned out to be) but aside from that, it was genuinely a great film about an amazing Amazonian princess.

The casting for this film was amazing. Chris Pine has always been someone that I've loved, I mean, I've watched 90% of his movies because I love him so much, so I always knew that he'd be good. But I've just completely fallen in love with Gal Gadot. She was an amazing choice to play Diana and I just want to see her in more films because I think she's amazing.

I don't know if this counts as an origin story, but if it does, this is the way to do it. It gave us so much information about who Diana is and what she does, and perfectly sets up what will hopefully be some well-done character development for the Justice League.

There's not much I can say without giving stuff away, but this film wasn't perfect by an means. However, I will defend it (and have!) forever because I think it was such a needed comic book movie, and Patty Jenkins, the director, did an amazing job with it. She's one to watch!

Thank you for reading.

What do you prefer, Marvel or DC?

Lou xx

  4. los movies - Wow, great story and acting from the top billed talent. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine steal the show and make this thoroughly enjoying. I was fortunate enough to see this in a nice theatre and this film was very impressive, great effects, nice soundtrack and great direction. Personally I would have picked the second war to set this story to, but that is my only complaint. Great film.. go watch it!
