I am such a huge Marvel and MCU fan, so I had been waiting for this movie for such a long time! Hey Guys x Last year I missed it, so this year I made sure that I remembered to post for my blogiversary! I have been blogging for 4 years yesterday! I always talk about how unbelievable it is, but every year it reminds me how quickly time flies. When I first started blogging I was still in sixth form with university only a fleeting worry that I didn't need to think about because I still had over a year to go before starting. Hey Guys x James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander are two of my favourite actors in the entire world, so when I heard that they were making a movie together, I was so excited to see it! This movie is about a guy called James and a girl called Danielle who, after a chance encounter on a beach, meet and fall into a quick and intense relationship. However, some time later we find James held captive in a windowless room on the eastern coast of Africa by jihadist fighters, while Danielle prepares to undertake the dangerous mission of descending into the Arctic sea. But will these lovers be able to find their way back to each other? This film doesn't fit into a specific genre. It is part romance, part thriller, with an underwater element. While many movies benefit from having many different themes continuing at the same time, this film seems to suffer for it. I usually stop reviewing during uni because the books that I'm reading are literary and critical, and I have to focus on writing essays about them rather than reviews. Thankfully, for this one, I can do both! This book is about a girl called Briony Tallis, her sister Cecilia and Robbie Turner, their family friend. The lives of these three people are changed forever, when 13 year old Briony sees something that she doesn't understand. Her mind can't comprehend the events of the day, and rather than thinking rationally, she accuses an innocent man of the worst crime possible. Her accusation sets into a motion a chain of events that Briony spends the rest of her life trying to atone for. Hey Guys x I read this book after it was recommended to me by a tutor last year, and I loved it! Although it may have been geared towards a younger audience, that didn't take anything away from it for me. So when I found out that they were making a film version, I was so excited! And last week I finally got to see it. The film is about a girl called Meg Murry. Meg and her brother Charles Wallace have been without their father, scientist Dr Alex Murry, for a number of years. Her father's missing status is taking its toll on Meg, who reacts by doing badly in school and struggles to find things to care about. However, Charles Wallace has dealt with this by making three mysterious friends. Friends that he thinks will help them finally find their father. Along with classmate Calvin, Meg and Charles Wallace allow these friends to guide them through the tesseract and into other dimensions. But will they find their father? Hey Guys x Recently, I've seen a lot of people talking about whether or not it's socially acceptable to go to the cinema alone, so I thought I'd add my two cents to that debate. Before last year, I had never been to the cinema alone. I'd miss out on films that I wanted to see because I had no one to go with, but I couldn't think of anything sadder than going to the cinema alone. The first time I did it, I went to see La La Land - I was self conscious for about three seconds, and then the film started, and I couldn't care less that I hadn't gone with anyone. I've since been to the cinema alone too many times to count (the last time I went alone was yesterday, to see 'A Wrinkle In Time), and I'm now at the point where that's my preferred method of seeing movies. Hey Guys x I had seen this advertise a few times before I went to see it, but I never really understood what the premise was until I actually saw it. It's about a woman who has moved to a new State and changed her life because she was being stalked. However, that experience is still mentally affecting her, so she decides to a counsellor. When she signs some paperwork, she realises that she has accidentally committed herself to the 'Highland Creek Behavioral Centre' for 24 hours. However, the staff at the facility quickly extend her stay when they begin to question her sanity. But when she thinks that her old stalker is in the facility with her, will she get anyone to believe her? And is she really seeing what she thinks she's seeing? I thought this film had such a good and interesting premise.
