Love, Rosie | Blogmas Day 16

Image
It's Blogmas Day 16! Today's review is a lot more lighthearted than the previous one that I did, which was about 'Foxcatcher' - and it's definitely one that you can watch at Christmas time even though it's not a Christmas movie. It's about best friends Rosie and Alex. They've been best friends for as long as they can remember, and they've never wanted to be anything more. That is, until they kiss at Rosie's 18th birthday party and Alex begins to develop feelings. However, over their many years of friendship, Alex and Rosie go through many separate things, things that keep them apart. But are the two meant to be together? Or is their epic friendship just a friendship for a reason? I didn't expect to really have any feelings one way or another about this film. I thought I might like it just on the basis that it's a romantic comedy based on a book by Cecelia Ahern, whose books I really like. However, I thought it would be just someth...

The Best Vlogmas Videos | Blogmas Day 15

Image
Hey Guys - happy Blogmas day 15! Today I wanted to talk about Vlogmas. For those who don't know, Vlogmas is when YouTubers vlog every day from December 1st until Christmas. It's a time of year that I look forward to every year because I love watching their vlogs and seeing what they get up to. So today, I'm gonna let you know whose videos I'm watching religiously this Vlogmas, and what videos you should be watching too! If you think there's any more that I should be watching, please let me know in the comments! Zoella Zoe's Vlogmas is my go-to every year, because she's one of the only vloggers I follow that actually does it every year no matter what. She posts quite long videos, so it's really nice to know that I can sit and watch 40 minutes of her life every evening to keep me entertained! And as well as that, she's such a festive person that it really does make me excited(ish) for the holiday season. Niomi Smart Niomi Smart i...

Foxcatcher | Blogmas Day 14

Image
It's Blogmas Day 14. Hi everyone! This is certainly not a Christmas film in any sense, so don't watch this thinking that it'll be lighthearted because I put it in Blogmas. Trust me! The film is a true story about a wrestler called Mark Schultz, who is approached by a man called John du Pont who wants to train him and use him to help form a wrestling team for the Olympics (in 1988). Mark agrees to move in with du Pont so that he can get out of the shadow of his brother Dave Schultz, who is also a wrestler. However, living with du Pont takes it's toll on Mark, who begins to suffer in ways that he doesn't understand. And with du Pont obsessed with getting Dave to join the team, it's clear that things won't end well for this trio of athletes. This film is insane. I don't know if it was marketed as a psychological thriller but it definitely should have been. Even thinking about it is making me feel a bit weird. The main reason I watched this film wa...

Shopping For Gifts On A Budget | Blogmas Day 13

Image
Happy Blogmas day 13 guys! Christmas is an expensive time of year, the only way to get around that would be to not buy presents, or to make presents yourself, both of which a lot of people do. But if you like to actually buy things for people, I just thought I'd note down a few places that you can go where you can buy things that aren't expensive, but still really nice. Amazon This is my default, for sure. When I'm shopping for Christmas presents, amazon is always the first place that I go to because I know that I'll be able to find something nice without it being expensive. Even if the thing that you have your heart set on buying is expensive, there are always cheaper versions that you can get if you look at the third-party sellers. The item will probably be used, but they're mostly in good condition, and still make a great gift! Etsy I love Etsy so much for personalised things. It's better than Amazon in this sense because the website is full of p...

Happy Death Day | Blogmas Day 12

Image
Hey Guys x It felt really fitting to save this post until now! So, for those who don't know, here's a review of the movie Happy Death Day, from me, on my birthday! If you've seen the film, you'll know why that's significant! Here's to 21! I have such a love of horror movies. And as much as I love the paranormal, possession, 'conjuring' type ones, I also love a good slasher flick. Well, this film takes the idea of a slasher flick, and turns it on it's head. It's about a girl called Tree (Teresa) who wakes up on her birthday in a strange dorm room with a guy that she barely recognises. Anyway, she goes about her normal life, and at the end of the night, on the way out (or home, I'm not 100% sure, but it doesn't matter) she is killed. However, when she wakes up, she is back in that unfamiliar dorm room with that unfamiliar guy. At first, she thinks she's having deja vu. But when, at the end of the night, she is ki...

My Fantasy Christmas Day | Blogmas Day 11

Image
Hey Guys x So today's post is just an idea that I had out of the blue that I thought might be kind of fun. I'm going to tell you about my fantasy Christmas day, the Christmas that I'd be having if I could control the world, basically. First of all, it would be snowing. Not a bit of fluff here and there, really properly snowing. Just short of a full-on blizzard snowing. The snow would darken the sky and give everything a tinge of icing sugar dust. I'd be in like a cabin or something. Something secluded and warm inside, and when you look out the window, it's like you're in a gingerbread house looking out into a snow globe. My favourite Christmas movies would be on the TV on a continuous loop, including the movies from Blogmas Day 9 that make me feel festive without actually being about Christmas. Whenever I'd need a break from them, I could mute the TV and plug my Ipod into a dock. It would be filled with the best Christmas music, think Mariah a...

Crimson Peak | Blogmas Day 10

Image
Happy Blogmas day 10! Today's movie review is, as you can see from the title and picture, Crimson Peak. This film is about a girl called Edith. She's a writer, she's slightly naive, she lives solely with her father, and since she was young, she was able to see ghosts. It began when her mother died, and has followed her without her knowing it. She meets an English man called Thomas Sharpe, who she falls in love with, and he too falls in love with her. After the unexpected death of her father, she marries Sharpe and travels back to England, to live with him and his sister Lucille. However, when they get to their mansion, the ghosts of Edith's past returns. But do these ghosts have anything to do with her new husband? I really enjoyed this film! It stars Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain and honestly, these three together are such an amazing combination, because they're all such talented actors. I am such a lover of horror movies that I to...
