Book Review #6: Twilight

Image
Would you date a vampire? I didn't read Twilight when it first came out. I am all for romance, but I must admit, I avoided the whole saga for a good 3 years before I even picked up the book. The whole idea of a vampire chick-flick completely turned me off, I like to read books that are within this time, that could really happen. However, after being continuously pushed by my best friend, I decided to buy the first book. Just one, to take it slowly. All four had been released and the second film had just come out of DVD, but I refused to be sucked in. I picked up the book, opened it, and I barely put it down until I had finished it. As much as I don't like fantasy books, I couldn't hide the fact that Stephanie Meyer has done an amazing job. The way that the book was written instantly made me fall in love with the character of 'Edward Cullen' and I was wishing that I could be in Bella's shoes. The book begins with a normal girl, Bella Swan,  moving from ...

Book Review #5: 'I've got your number' by Sophie Kinsella

Image
I love Sophie Kinsella!   This is the first review of a Sophie Kinsella book that I'm writing, but there is no way that it will be the last. Her books inspire me, but for different reasons than the previous books that I have read. I love Sophie because her books aren't that serious, they are a bit of fun that will have you laughing at most pages, and this book is no different.   It is based on Poppy Wyatt, a girl who is about to meet her future in-laws for the first time. What could be the worst thing to happen when you're about to meet your fiancé's parents? Losing their priceless engagement ring that has been in their family for generation upon generation! Through her elusive cover stories and meeting Sam Roxton, it's impossible to not love Poppy.   What I love the most about Poppy, and most of Sophie's other characters to be honest, is that they are real. The heroines of the stories are never the perfect girls with the good looks, getting ...

Book Review #4 : 'Me Before You' by Jojo Moyes

Image
Prepare for tears! As you may be able to tell about me by now, I am in love with books. I bought this book a few weeks ago and was excited to start reading it. It has now sold over 3 million copies worldwide and it was the winner of the Richard and Judy Galaxy Bookclub Spring 2012, so I had high hopes for it. The book is about two people, Lou and Will. Lou has just lost her job, she lives with her parents and she doesn't know what to do next with her life. Will had everything going for him. He had a great job, a girlfriend and he had nowhere do go but up. Until he has a motorcycle accident. One way or another, their worlds entwine and neither of them is able to look back. It is not the kind of book that I usually read, in fact, none of the books that I have reviewed have been something that I would generally read. But this book was different. I'm the kind of person that buys books. Whenever I go shopping, for anything, I can't come home without a book in ...

My Top 10 Disney Movies

Image
I Love Disney! I am a Disney girl at heart, I am completely in love with the idea of writing for Disney or working with Disney in some way, and am hoping that I can make this a reality one day. Below are my top 10 all time favourite Disney movies: 10. The Lion King This movie is a complete classic. The story has been passed down through generations and I don't think I know anyone who hasn't seen this movie. It focuses around lion cub Simba and his family and friends. What I love about it is that it teaches family values and that the only people who control how we grow up, are us. It is a great family film that may even cause you to shed a few tears. 9. Monster's Inc. This movie, for me, has one of the best plot ideas of most Disney movies make before and after it. It is about monsters, who scare children as a job. However, the twist is that, although the children are scared of monsters, when they accidently allow a child into their world, we see that the monst...
